    Vale-Tech Ltd has launched its PO system, a complete modular manufacturing line which dramatically reduces labour & turnaround time for UV or conventional paste ink manufacturers. The gravimetric dispensing line addresses the increasing demand for fast turnaround times & consolidation of distribution centres by automating the complete process of order through to packing for custom batches of typically 1-10kg.

    The PO (press out) dispenser utilises a unique concept in dispensing whereby bases are stored within the dispenser in custom designed vessels of capacities ranging from 20-100 litres, these removable/reuseable vessels are filled on or off site straight from a 3 roll mill reducing another stage of manufacturing and wastage of standard drums or pails. The base is delivered from the vessel to the dispensing valve by a proprietary hydraulic press out system developed specifically for UV inks; this removes the need for piston pumps which are high maintenance and prone to seizure with UV products. Waxes, Varnishes & Driers are all accommodated within the system by varying methods of delivery, typically AoD pumps, piston pumps or pressure vessels.

    Typically a system of above specification will handle anything from 150-200 batches per day due to its unique workflow design, a distribution centre with a similar volume, using manual methods, may require 3-4 ink mixers to achieve the same through put. The levels of sophistication are tailored for each application with a recent system installed catering for batches up to 50kg with a base range of 31 components, although almost any requirement can be catered for.

    The Vale-Tech InkManager software at the heart of the system is constantly updating its database of recipes in the queue, once the conveyor feeds an empty vessel into the pick & place unit a barcode is read and dispensing initiated. All usage & dispensing data is recorded enabling a full audit trail of dispensed batches.

    The system is being rapidly adopted by ink manufacturers in the UK whom have seen the huge benefits a fully integrated system can offer, this is not just a dispenser but a complete turnkey solution for small batch custom colour production.
